Terry Walker @ MISS AFRICAN CARIBBEAN QUEEN 2006 CULTURE PAGEANT @ HACKNEY EMPIRE

BIOGRAPHY OF MISS AFRICAN/CARIBBEAN The 18th of July 2003 saw the birth of the very first Miss Afro Caribbean Queen Beauty Pageant. An idea created by Mr Chris Calliste and Ras Iyans with the aim to give the opportunity to young women who are not models to experience the catwalk and participate in a beauty pageant. Miss Afro Caribbean is a celebration of our Afro Caribbean womens beauty, culture, intelligence and grace all brought under one umbrella by the Miss Afro Caribbean committee. The first Miss Afro Caribbean was an evening of pure delight from start to finish. Held at the previous Ocean in Mare Street Hackney the venue was a fitting platform for the array of beauty that graced the stage. Ladies from all the different Caribbean islands displayed their talents in swimwear, sports wear and eveningwear. The show itself was interjected with live performances from Miss Sylvia Tella, Lloyd Brown and the Rasites and Ruffneck, Feminine Touch, Daddy Ernie and Miss Mercedes supplied music on the night. The judges had the hard task of sifting through the beauty queens to find a winner. Eventually she was found from the beautiful island of Trinidad our first Miss Afro Caribbean Queen was Miss Arlene Villarule. The second Miss Afro Caribbean Queen was a much larger affair again held at Hackneys Ocean Music venue. Hosts for the night were DJ Elayne and Duke Baysee. The line up for artists performing on the night would have boasted a music show within itself, the late Justin Hinds, Don Ricardo, Loose Ends, Omar and Brushey-one-string, even the promoter himself (Ras Iyans) felt the need to sing a one tune and they were all backed by the Mellow Mix Band. Music was supplied by Gemi in ting Magic. The ladies on the night far exceeded our expectations and did not disappoint the waiting audience. Each lady took part in the spirit of the whole event and did not shy away from dancing and expressing their personality in front of the audience. Miss Rachel McIntosh from Trinidad was crowned our second Miss Afro Caribbean Queen and walked away with £1000 in prize money. The second prize is 2 tickets to the Caribbean (destination of own choice) and third prize was DVD player, CD player, Car stereo plus CDs and DVDs. Our main sponsors for the event were Stoke Newington Travel, The Voice Newspaper, New Nation, Hackney Gazette, Jet Star, Station FM, The Gleaner, Gargamel Magazine, The flying Squad, Supreme Radio and Crestmore Car finance. The third newly named Miss African Caribbean Queen was held on 24th September at Hackney Empire due to the closure of Hackneys Ocean music venue and was a total sell-out. The media attention generated by this event had been outstanding and the committee carried this event to the media mainstream, it was a beauty pageant to rival all others. It was seen as an opportunity for the every day African Caribbean woman to express her beauty to others in a glamorous setting provided by Mellow Mix Studios and the African Caribbean Music Federation.

Shontelle & Akon - Stuck With Each Other NEW 2008

Shontelle & Akon - Stuck With Each Other 2009 HIGH QUALITY WIDE SCREEN HQ Shontelle & Akon - Stuck With Each Other 2009 HIGH QUALITY WIDE SCREEN HQ Shontelle & Akon - Stuck With Each Other 2009 HIGH QUALITY WIDE SCREEN HQ Shontelle & Akon - Stuck With Each Other 2009 HIGH QUALITY WIDE SCREEN HQ Shontelle Layne (born October 3, 1985), better known by her first name Shontelle, is a Bajan singer-songwriter and rapper. She is popular in the Caribbean for her song "Colours", released in 2005, which is a collaboration with another Bajan artist, Natahlee. She also wrote Alison Hinds' 2006 hit "Roll It Gal". She appeared in the music video for the re-worked "Roll It" performed by J-Status featuring Rihanna and herself, from 2006. Shontelle was recently signed to Street Records Corporation/Universal Motown Records. Shontelle was born on October 3, 1985 in Saint James, Barbados. She is the oldest of 3 sisters. At school she was a first class academic student. On the sports field she was highly competitive too. I did track and field, lawn tennis and represented my school and Barbados at swimming, she recalls. Shontelle is a student at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in Barbados (currently on hold), and was on her way to becoming a Lawyer before SRC, the same label known for discovering her friend Rihanna, saw her talent. Shontelle wrote the song "Roll It Gal" for regionally renowned, Alison Hinds. The song had big success in the Caribbean, New York, Miami and Europe. Her lyrical writing helped her to peform with Natahlee (a Barbadian singer). Their hit song was "Colours" which was a song showing the pride of being Barbadian did so well, that a remix was made to represent the whole West Indies. After Rihanna, Shontelle is the second singer from Barbados to have a hit song, on a world renowned record label.[citation needed] Shontelle performed at Hot 99.5's "Bras Across DC Little Pink Dress" [2] party at the Hard Rock Cafe in Washington, DC on Friday, October 24. She also performed at the 18th Annual Kissmas Bash on December 9th, 2008 at HSBC Arena in Buffalo, NY at a yearly radio event on WKSE KISS 98.5. Shontelle performed her hit single "T-Shirt" on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, on November 27, 2008. "Plastic People" will be released as the next single.
